What To Do On Your Wedding Day?

Our top tips for brides:

Before we go into things in detail, here are our top tips:

  • If you don’t normally wear lenses, make sure you’re prepared
  • Take care when applying your make-up
  • Prepare your eyes for a long, long day
  • Add a little extra sparkle to your eyes

Right so what do we mean – well let’s start with top tip #1: If you don’t normally wear lenses, make sure you’re prepared

Many brides who normally wear glasses will choose to wear contact lenses on their wedding day. Daily lenses are perfect for this and are a convenient option that you can simply pop in and throw away when you’re finished with them. Before you pick contact lenses you should visit the optician for an eye test. Prescriptions can be different for glasses and contacts, so it’s important to get some guidance before buying.

Lastly, if you haven’t put in contact lenses before, it’s a good idea to practice a few times ahead of the wedding.

Top tip #2: Take care when applying your make-up

Whether you’re doing your makeup yourself, asking a friend to do it or hiring a professional, you should make sure that you’re careful with contact lenses when applying it. The most important thing to remember is to put on your lenses before you start. This removes the possibility of anything getting trapped behind the lens and causing you discomfort.

Also, make sure that you or whoever does your make-up doesn’t use oil-based mascara as it doesn’t work well with contact lenses and could cause blurry vision or uncomfortable eyes.

Top tip #3: Prepare your eyes for a long, long day

As we all know weddings can be long and as much as we look forward to being the center of attention – it is exhausting. Based on this, you want your eyes to essentially have minimal discomfort. This means the most important thing to remember is NOT to exceed the manufacturer’s recommended wear time and to bring extra supplies if you think that you might.

Dailies definitely keep things nice and simple as you can easily switch to a fresh pair when you’re done with your first set and carry on enjoying yourself. However, if you’re wearing monthlies, do make sure that someone is holding on to a case and solution for you to store them in. Also, it’s useful to bring a bottle of eye drops with you to make sure that your eyes feel as comfortable as possible throughout the day.

Top tip #4: Add a little extra sparkle to your eyes

Some brides like to use colored contact lenses to enhance their natural eye color. Lenses such as Freshlook Colorblends are perfect for adding a complementary tint to your eyes and when paired well with your natural eye color can give you a truly striking look.

If you’re looking for something a more natural for your wedding day, then you could also explore the Acuvue Define Range. Acuvue Define Natural Shine has a dark ring with a glittering gold shine. On medium colored eyes, this gives a brightening effect with high-contrast and added depth. On dark eyes too, this gives extra depth and definition.

Alternatively, Acuvue Define Vivid Style, consisting of a brown ring with brown spokes gives a twinkling effect on medium colored eyes and a vibrant effect on darker eyes – enlarging them.

Both lenses add a touch of glamour without changing your natural shade. These lenses are available with or without corrective powers so those who don’t need glasses or contacts can still give them a go. We recommend trying them on before the big day, just to make sure they look and feel right for you.
